Wait Time: The power of pauses
For teachers––for all of us––when we remain open to the unexpected, to ideas and wisdom from others and pay attention to their potential, we improve outcomes in our work, in our lives.
In the case of Rowe’s two practices, a teacher who lets them into her classroom will soon discover she needs to keep them.
From the words of Mary Oliver in her poem Sometimes:
Instructions for living a life:
Pay attention.
Be astonished.
Tell about it.
A teacher who pays attention while attempting Rowe’s 10-2 and Wait Time will surely bring astonishment and the urge to tell colleagues about it. I’ll bet on it!
