What can we do
On the surface, teachers are ensconced in classrooms, parents are on the outside, and the rest of us who might be concerned also looking in, so what are our options?
On the one hand, not much. On the other hand, possibilities. My choice has been to write in support of schools and teachers, six books published. I have four more manuscripts awaiting. And I write this Substack. I plan to give a talk in my home town, San Miguel de Allende, to celebrate teachers and address the current crisis in public schools.
It took me awhile to recognize that from out of the country I can be involved. It may be only a prick in the fabric but a prick it is. If say, 250 million of us take some action and stick with and perhaps discover other options in the process, imagine the outcome. Imagine.
We have to believe. We have to act.
What do you think?
